STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION (2-7) BLOOPERS - 2021

Hi Trekkers. To usher in 2021 heres some fun Star Trek The Next Generation blooper reels which should crack you up. These classic TNG recordings are spliced together"out-takes" showing how actors keep it together when they forget their lines, mostly by goofing off. The shows creator Gene Roddenberry even gets in on the act and If you thought Klingons didn't laugh, well guess again.

Patrick Stewart goofs off on camera and utters the order “engage” instead of“energize,” "which is what we say in this room" Picard explains.... causing Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Colm Meaney to laugh.

The crew had long shifts and for Dorn 3.5 hours to create and transform with the Klingon ridge forehead, thankfully for Brent Spiner it took only 75 minutes to put on his metallic android paint he said.

THE LEGEND PICARD RETURNS

Heres Patrick Stewart chatting to a packed convention hall in Star Trek Las Vegas as only he can, "Make it so". The fans of course loved every minute of it and couldn't get enough of "the Picard" news. How do you separate the legend from the man? So everyone settled down and listened to Stewart speak and WOWSERS!  He just blew us away..... and this is just the beginning!

"You know, whatever happens in the next few years what you did makes it all worthwhile anyway. However I have to tell you, he (Jean Luc Picard) may not and I stress, may not be a captain anymore. He may not be the Jean Luc that you recognize and know so well. It may be a very different individual - someone who has been changed by his experiences. 20 years will have passed which is more or less exactly the time of the very last movie Nemesis and today. We have no scripts as yet, we're just talking, talking, talking storylines.

It will be I promise you, I guarantee it, something very very different but it will come to you with the same passion and determination and love of the material and love of our followers and our fans exactly as we had it before. Thank you so much, I will see you all again very soon.

Leonard's Stories about Time

Capturing Stories about Time

I made this comment on one of Leonard Nimoys self portraits photos later shown in Paris. The photo was posted to twitpic 1074 days ago and I added my thoughts 21 days later... I don't know if "Grandpa" ever read what I wrote but if he did, I sure hope he got a kick out of it. I have since come to appreciate the spiritual message in this film. What do your scientific/spiritual instincts tell you? Here's Leonard Nimoy's Story.

This is the first self portrait that I have done that relates to this issue. The light for me is a lifeforce, thats the energy for me in photography and light in life is a metaphor for energy and life. Theres movement in the face here you can see, which is also a time exposure, open up the lens and turn to face the camera while the lens was open. So you get that sense of movement.
.

What do you think of Leonard's "stories about time" caught on film? Did you find his self portrait freaky cool? How would you describe his portrait in time?

Klingons Do Not Laugh

K is for Klingons do not laugh.  Do Klingons and humor mix? A lot has been said about Star Trek TNG being a little off key in its first season. In this second episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation of "The Naked Now,"

I think you'll agree Commander Data, Captain Picard and Klingon Worf's dry wit is a real winner! You decide.....skip ahead to 0.56sec....

Lt. Cmdr. Data: There was a rather peculiar limerick, being delivered by someone in the shuttlecraft bay. I am not sure I understand it... "There was a young lady from Venus, whose body was shaped like a... "
Capt. Picard: Captain to Security, come in!
Lt. Cmdr. Data: Did I say something wrong?
Lieutenant Worf: I don't understand their humor either.

Do Klingons laugh?

Gene Roddenberry's Message

Gene Roddenberry's "Wagon Train to the Stars" became a cult tv show and refused to die. Star Trek's defenders of the galaxy gave us many hopeful voyages into the future.

Its fair to say, they have been our friends, our guides and our defenders thrilling us with 726 epic adventures, boldly exploring where none have gone before. Its now 50 years later. Heres what Gene Roddenberry said in 1986.

I have thought that having reached this point, it would be fun to go back to the years which Kirk first got the Enterprise and met these people. I know it would please me more than have Star Trek come back years from the future and bright young people and new stars and so on, really make it something.....and have them say thats better than Roddenberry's.... I'd like that.

(True or False) It was Gene Roddenberry's idea to have a Klingon on the bridge of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D.

Into Darkness Speed Chase

Hello Everyone, Heres the David and Goliath Star Trek Into Darkness space chase. You know the score. Big baddie Vengence spaceship races after Captain Kirk's chicken USS Enterprise ship. So now its battle stations! Chekov's got his cool space shades on and Dr Carol Marcos wants permission to, I quote "come on the bridge..."

Anyway, in this space chase the admiral's dreadnought is frightening fast roaring a little like a retro Godzilla but you be the judge. Poor USS Enterprise hasn't a chance. No time for Uhura's 'hailing frequencies, open captain.' Instead its fire first and prepare to die. (1m 20sec) Secretly we're all getting off on the speed chase and what happens next. Those poor devils!!!

Did you get a rush when Starfleets finest got sucked out the side of USS Enterprise NCC 1701? Go on now admit it, warrior to warrior. How did you feel?

King Abdullah's 'Investigations'

K is for King Abdullah. Star Trek Voyagers 'Investigations' episode is quite the surprise. In 1996, a Jordanian Star Trek fan was but a mere Prince. He landed a non-speaking role in Star Trek Voyager as a Science Officer. When Moral Officer Neelix strikes up a conversation with Harry Kim, Science Officer Abdullah departs the scene rather quickly.

7 years later Jordan's avid Star Trek fan is a King! Apparently he was visiting the States as part of a military delegation and had to stopover in L.A. A friend offered to arrange for the prince to visit Voyagers' film set and try on a uniform.

'Then the next thing, when I actually showed up, they said that if you want, you can stand in. So it wasn't planned, it just turned out that way. I had a great time.'

How cool is this? Are you a fan of Star Trek Voyager? Do you wear costumes to Star trek conventions?

Heroic Captain Kirks Crew Are Hiding!

Heroic Captain Kirk has proven himself on numerous occasions with his ingenious battle strategies. Keeping the power and secrets of the Genesis Torpedo away from Commander Kruges grasp is top priority. He's the perfect mean spirited, vengeful Klingon on a power tripping quest... All our greedy friend has to do now is seize the Enterprise and steal her "secrets." When Kruge sizes up the situation, Captain Kirk cunningly outwits his mortal enemy by setting the USS Enterprise 1701 on self destruct!!! Kruges undefeated reputation is in tatters with his moment of glory backfiring sending him into an unhinged spasm of madness. He has to defeat his elusive opponent. Captain Kirk.

Trouble is, where are Captain Kirks heroic crew?

(Forward to 3.18)
TORG: My lord(Kruge) the ship appears to be deserted. [Enterprise bridge]

KRUGE: How can that be? They're hiding! [Bird-of-Prey bridge]

TORG: Yes sir. But the bridge appears to be run by computer. It is the only thing speaking.[Enterprise bridge]

KRUGE: Speaking? Let me hear. [Bird-of-Prey bridge]

ENTERPRISE COMPUTER VOICE: Nine, ...eight, ...seven, ...six, ...five,... [Enterprise bridge]

KRUGE: Get out! Get out of there! Get out! COMPUTER VOICE: ...one... [Bird-of-Prey bridge]

Museum of Science Fiction

A new "Museum of Science Fiction" is kicking off in Washington D.C. In their online preview, the MSF appeals to fans from all over the great galactic divide with their fascinating website. Do you get that special pang when you turn on the tv and Star Trek or Star Wars flashes in front of you? Well then trekologist, you're in for a treat.

Science Fiction stories unlike tales of horror - frequently entice fans to explore strange, new worlds in distant galaxies spreading peace, scientific progress and technology. Sci-fi's epicness encourages us to eat, breathe and evolve into fully fledged time travellers. As per Starfleet's Standing Orders, its my job to investigate such anomalistic phenomena and report.

The obvious question here to ask is "Will D.C's Museum of Science Fiction catch on?"

I think its cool Science Fiction continues to grow and infect humans throughout time. We're all living proof of that. Why do we reach for other planets, develop new technologies and want to meet aliens? At the MSF thoughts take on physical shape revealing the "fun" aspect of why we want to do these things. Its only logical to believe fans will want to trek out and see the fun exhibits with historical artefacts, including: full size space vehicles, robots, voice activated space probes and of course cool aliens.

The MSF Executive Director, Greg Viggiano explained "Our approach begins with a web-based blueprint—an online museum. You're visiting it now. This blueprint allows you to see our progress, make suggestions, and share your ideas."

Its a dream thats spreading throughout the stars and will make its debut at a full scale facility within 24 to 36 months. Right now money raised will kickstart the project into life. The museums Crowdfunding campaign is attempting to raise $160,000 in 38 days.

Meanwhile, The preview museum will house a number of Star Trek filming props from renowned collector Adam Schneider. A cool podcast is available with Adam giving a talk on the restoration of Star Trek's Shuttlecraft Galileo!

Gary Cannavo has offered to loan the MSF Preview Museum the actual filming miniatures used in the 1970s production of the Battlestar Galactica motion picture and television series. Plenty of artifacts and display objects from film, literature, and art, along with prototype analog and digital interactive exhibits are in the pipeline.

Image Credit: Howard and Jane Frank Collection.

So how about it? Are you ready to book your interplanetary MSF flight? Whats your instinctive science fictional reaction?

Whats the name of the spaceship in the top three photos? Where was the last one taken?

Top 100 Sci-Fi Movies?

This week I found Seaturtles video with a cool slideshow of 100 sci fi movie "classics" originating from 1927 to 2009. Many of these 100 Science Fiction movies have robots, cyborgs and alien entities sparking our sense of wonder by taking us to the edge of the universe. Fantasy epics and Space Operas like Avatar and Star Wars are well known. So sit back and enjoy the sci fi slideshow.

In general, science fiction films feature great story plot elements, striking artwork and epic character interplay from a scientific viewpoint rather than a supernatural one. "Ancient astronauts museum" sums these classics up very nicely... Wrath of Khan is battling it out at number 70 along with four other Star Trek movies. Star Wars (1977) is sitting pretty at no 5. A couple of black and whites like Metropolis and H G Wells' "Things To Come" are featured but why Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind made no 57 is a mystery.

How does your geek feel about the sequencing of these classic sci fi movies? Watching the video is certainly a good way of testing your sci-fi movie knowledge in a showdown with some friends. So let the battle of wits begin.

Quinto vs Nimoy "The Challenge"

I'm a sucker for these commercials. Star Trek's two Spocks, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, battle it out for lunch. What makes this Youtube "Challenge" so awesome has got to be Balok's Cruiser sitting proudly on the shelf right beside Spock Primes chess pieces, right?

Go Bilbo!

Remember Star Trek's classic Corbomite Maneuver, when First Officer Spock comments on the game of chess?

"when one player is outmatched the game is over." except Captain Kirk has other ideas.

"Not Chess, Mr Spock. Poker! Do you know the game?"

I love how "The Challenge" is hailing Star Trek for ol' times sake despite the Star Wars musical beat but hey, we're all friends here aren't we?

"I have been, and always shall be, your friend!" is totally epic with Nimoy's giving us his classic vulcan salute. What a trooper, even Quintos cracking up.

So who do you think is the smarter, greatest little vulcan of them all?

Star Trek Xbox

Star Treks Xbox 360 game is available now. The game is fast paced with a movie-like experience, however gamers will notice bugs requiring further updates. Do the pro's outweigh the con's? Its time to decide: Is your game chosen for its fun storyline, action adventure, characters, and placement in the Star Trek universe or are sci-fi technological thrills what turn you on?

Heres a rundown of Star Trek Xbox 360 Criteria to consider.

 Con's:
* Gameplay is designed for 16 year olds and over.
* The facial expressions are a little flat.
* Gamer reaction is mixed.

* The companion AI can be rather "dumb" at times.

 Pro's:
* Star Trek Xbox game got a GORN, explosions, third person shooter experience and sweet spaceships!
* You get to be Kirk and give orders from the bridge of the Enterprise.
* Varied gameplay experiences with skydives and spacedives.
* Gamers can use a Tricorder to investigate, Phasers in shoot-outs with the Gorn and Spock's vulcan neck pinch technique.
* Splitscreen gameplay experience for singleplayer play-throughs.
* Gameplay is fast-paced and movie-like, heavily influenced Star Trek.
* Voice-acting and music is superb using real actors and actresses from previous Star Trek film.
* The graphics/design of the environments looks futuristic.
* The storyline is a fun and a light-hearted action adventure.

The spirit of Star Trek adventure is also very much alive in the gameplay of Star Trek The Video Game. Whether you're gliding through chasms or jumping precariously through zero G.

Which trekkie ingredient makes a truly uber gaming experience for you?

What fun part of the game do you like most?

Who says: You know, if we weren't trying to save the whole universe, this might actually be fun! Game long and Prosper, trekkies and trekkers.

Starfleet Uniforms

U is for Star Trek uniform. Is yours ready for trekking into darkness?

In Star Trek's classic series, uniforms consisted of black pants, boots, and tunics in gold, red, and blue. In our new age of technology Starfleet uniforms can now be complete, all the way down to your feet! Gold is for command personnel, blue for science, red for security and engineering.

Trek fans have the option of wearing pants or dresses similar to those seen in any of Star Trek's series, so get kitted out to your socks!

What Starfleet colors will you be sporting at the movies premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness on May 17th?

All uniform's have the Enterprises arrowhead insignia sewn above the left breast. Gold braid on the sleeve denotes rank depending on how many rows or broken rows there are. Just don't forget your communicator.

Two to beam in, Scotty!

If you love Star Trek then feast your eyes on this fun parody, It made perfect sense today as I crawled out of bed to write the twelfth letter for the A to z challenge. Star Trek TNG Justice

"Justice" is the eighth episode of Star Trek The Next Generation series. Picard's away team find a nice M Class planet called Rubicun III populated with friendly, free and easy humanoids called the Edo. Two scantily clad Edo leaders Rivan (female) and Liator welcome Riker, Deanna, Worf, Tasha Yar and Wesley to their home planet with the traditional Ego greeting.

"Health happiness, pleasant day to you."

Rivan says "And I welcome this huge one, " (She gives the Klingon a long, sensual hug. I had a good chuckle here, wait for it.) Rivan melts into Worfs arms. The dumb Klingon looks over to Commander Riker and says, "Nice Planet!"

Nice Planet!??!!! What Worf? You've got to be kidding me! The Klingons got a babe swooning all over him and all the daft beggar says, is: "nice planet?" Riker was unimpressed. Next it's Wesley's turn and the wiseguys brick'in it, big style. Being a nerd can be a major disadvantage sometimes.

WORF: Nice planet.

And

EDO GIRL
I want to do something too . . . with you. (Great line, lol)

WESLEY
Uh . . . what?

EDO GIRL
It's something you can teach me. Will you?

WESLEY
Uh . . . well, actually, there are some . . . games . . . I don't quite know yet.

Rubicun III is perfect for shore leave... until Wesley Crusher, son of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Beverly Crusher, "drops the ball" (hehe) totally by breaking the absolute law of the Edo world. So what was the Enterprise kid's crime? Unknown to the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D away team, Rubicun had "punishment zones" scattered throughout their little world which the Klingon, Worf was fast finding out from Tasha Yar. When someone breaks a rule in a randomly-assigned "punishment zone," they're put to death. Law enforcement "Mediators") ask Wesley if he freely admits to the heinous crime of falling on new plants. Wesley stands up straight, deepens his voice, and declares,

"I'm with Starfleet. We don't lie."

The plot thickens with Captain Picard in quite a bind. How will he try to outwit the Edo world's most powerful and mysterious protector? Data calls it the Edo "God" thing.

Star Trek Generations

G is for Generations. Star Trek Generations was released in 1994, directed by David Carson. 78 years after the Enterprise-B's mysterious encounter with a energy portal the past and future collide.  This movie engages TNG in a galactic rescue mission of epic proportions by enlisting the help of Captain Kirk whos stuck in a magical place. The films baddie, Dr Tolian Soran will do anything to re-capture the family he lost by opening a "doorway" in an energy ribbon zipping through space. Kirk and Picard team up in a final battle as the "Captains on the Bridge" determined to defeat the El-Aurian madman Soran. The plot thickens when Klingon sisters Lursa and B'Etor kidnap the USS Enterprise-D's Chief Engineer, Geordi and doctor his VISOR! Its a whole different ballgame now with Picard on Veridian III giving Commander Riker his big chance in the captain's chair without a safety net!

The movie earned mixed reviews from critics, as it currently holds a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 46 reviews. So okay, lets get serious for a second, whoever dreamed up captain 'under the bridge' deserves to be beamed onto an asteroid penal colony infested with hungry Salt Vampires and left there for all eternity. Captain Kirk's death is an ill conceived ending for Star Trek's greatest defender of the galaxy. Kirk's demise was sorrowful and deserved so much more for such a heroic, intrepid, interstellar explorer of the Final Frontier. Jeremy Conrad of IGN gave the film a score of 7 out of 10, calling it "one of the better of the odd numbered Trek films," referring to a belief that even numbered Star Trek films are traditionally of higher quality.

The idea of Captain Kirk's death was originally mooted by writers Brannon Braga and Ronald Moore so Paramount Pictures insisted they consult William Shatner. Everyone was surprised Shatner was cool about his demise except us trekkies, of course. Shatner eventually realised it was too late to back out and admitted he was genuinely saddened by his characters death. Loyal fans vowed to "Bring Back Kirk" with a an exciting internet campaign except resurrecting Kirk was never meant to be, sniff.

Elementary Dear Data

E is for Elementary Dear Data which begins with the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D hanging in space for the USS Victory. In this 28th episode of Star Trek TNG, Chief Engineer La Forge and Commander Data head off to the holodeck for some fun. La Forge suggests playing out a Sherlock Holmes mystery except theres a catch. Data cheats because he jumps to the end! The android accesses his vast memory banks and solves the mystery before it even plays out frustrating La Forge. So Dr Pulaski pipes in professing Data just isn't capable of deductive reasoning. He's a machine, a robot! Right? I mean look at how he talks, walks and computes. Datas got no instinct, so Geordi's determined to prove Pulaski wrong. The fun really begins when Geordi decides to create a new program with a unique mystery capable of defeating DATA!

(Lets think about that for a second. Data has an 800 quadrillion bits "positronic" brain capable of 60 trillion operations per second. Datas impressive positronic brain allows him to interface with other computer systems and process a large number of "thoughts" at once.)

So on the holodeck, Geordi instructs the Enterprise computer to create an adversary capable of defeating the fastest and brightest walking computer on two legs! This was enough to give Picard a meltdown. What this means is Geordi placed the entire Enterprise in peril by creating a super intelligent, sentient "lifeform" with total access to the main computer. Things get real interesting when "Moriarty" tries to leave the holodeck.

Is the definition of life "I think, therefore, I am" the only one that matters?

Will Moriarty cease to exist when the holodeck is turned off?
